The financial aid department started accepting my award amounts without allowing me to see them first. I had to repeatedly fill out loan reduction forms because they don't allow you to modify them before they accept them on your behalf. They chose your classes for you, which is okay, but my advisor enrolled me in 2 of my electives without consulting me (utterly unrelated to the career path I established with her). I thought they were required because it was inconceivable that they would choose electives... Read More for me. A professor gave me the rudest, most dishonest, and inaccurate feedback I'd ever seen. It was so blatant that I had to look her up, thinking she was an imposter. There were 20ish terrible reviews, most concerning almost the same issue I encountered. The dispute resolution contact was rude, oblivious to the case, and sent me a template denial a few days later. Academic integrity is not a thing here. Over half the DB posts appeared to be pasted from AI chatbots.

My SNHU experience has been nothing but frustrating and disappointing. I was told by my academic advisor for the last year (since April 2024) that this current term is my last term and that I have no additional classes to take. I have this in writing (via emails and program evaluations) numerous times over the last year, and two weeks before the end of this term, my advisor calls me and says "our system messed up. You actually aren't graduating this term and need more classes." Can you imagine mentally... Read More and financially planning to graduate for a whole year, and two weeks before said graduation, you get told oops, our system messed up, so sorry. I am beyond upset by SNHU's incompetence. I am most likely not going to finish my degree now because I do not have the funds, time, or energy to take even more classes. Prior to this fiasco, every term it was something new, some new issue that took WEEKS to MONTHS to figure out, and only because I would constantly email my advisor. Their advisors are not trained properly, nor do they exhibit any type of emotional intelligence. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration and go somewhere else.

I am a Logistics Manager for a large medical company, I have been in the industry for decades and needed to finish my degree to move up, I graduate in June. I wanted something like the degree I would have received in a 5-year program at Northeastern University, and after some research, I chose SNHU. Other schools would have taken my experience and credits and enrolled me in 10 classes to get my bachelor's degree. Read More I have managed to maintain a 3.9 GPA, and I'll end up with a degree compatible with the degree I started at Northeastern University. The online system at SNHU is consistent and you can see what’s expected each week, all my classes have been based on 8 weeks and a 1000-point grading structure. My advisor has been awesome! She has helped guide me through my classes and has done a great job of mixing them up, if I had a hard class, I would have an easier class with it.
The one thing about the professors is how strict they will be with citations, it's one of the biggest issues people complain about. I also have had to cite myself in almost all my classes because so much comes out of my head from experience.
Some takeaways from a college experience are: time management, understanding deadlines, and adaptability. Being able to show that you can adjust to different requirements, communicate effectively, and learn are important skills you will need. Companies want people who can problem solve, communicate well, grow, and learn with them, a college degree shows you successfully can do those things.

My experience with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) has been frustrating, particularly with their Financial Aid department. SNHU overpaid my financial aid, and since then, I’ve been bombarded with harassing emails demanding an “overpayment resolution letter.” However, they provide no guidance or explanation for what such a letter should contain. Despite multiple attempts to reach out for clarification, my emails were ignored.

The advising department doesn't seem to communicate with the financial aid office, and neither talk to the student financial services team. It feels like you're just a number, not a student who’s trying to improve their future.

SNHU doesn’t seem to care about the impact their mistakes have on students, especially when those students are relying on financial aid to better their lives. Instead of offering support, they add unnecessary stress with their lack of oversight and failure to take responsibility.
If you're considering SNHU and value your financial stability or peace of mind, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. This school does not prioritize its students' well-being when it comes to financial matters.

It gets you the degree and that's it. The courses are all created by course designers and the instructors solely grade. Instructor quality varies wildly, which is exasperated by the accelerated 10 week semesters. The substance of the assignments is surface level with the foundational line of financial reporting courses being built on 3rd party homework modules that are automatically graded. The only people from SNHU that you will ever speak to are your advisor, career services, and financial services.... This is my 3rd degree from and 3rd year at SNHU. I would recommend SNHU over other online colleges, but it is nothing compared to a traditional education.

I like the flexibility of school but I just feel like I’m turning in assignments on a deadline. I don’t feel I have taken away anything from my education besides do my work and do well. Professors are just AI people giving assignments and grades but I’m not learning much. Every 8 weeks classes change and I can’t remember one from the other. At the masters level I have often come across students and instructors that are not intellectually ready for coursework at the graduate level. While working on discussion posts and peer edits it is clear than SNHU has very low standards for academic writing and research.

The financial aid process is also ridiculous. I have gotten a refund as late as the 7th week of a term. In addition, SNHU reduces financial aid amounts randomly and requesting that they increase your loan amount is basically impossible.... Read More I requested a grad plus loan. I had a very difficult course that term and I wanted to reduce my work hours to spend more time studying. They refused to allow me to access those additional funds. Despite being approved for them through studentaid.gov.

If you attend this school you must understand that you will have to monitor everything they do financially. Every term you will have to send messages to verify tuition charges etc. The SNHU system doesn’t even allow me to see my account for this term. So I have no clue if my employer funding or aid has gone through.

SNHU provided me with online learning. With that said, online is online. You will not get the one-on-one instructor coaching as you would in a classroom, HOWEVER, I have taken classroom courses at other colleges and sat in a room while we all read a page out of the book and took pop quizzes and a final. NO THANK YOU.
SNHU instead requires you to think, uses research skills and be able to compose essays, a TON of writing in these classes but by the end, which is this week 4-28-2024, I will have graduated... Read More with a Bachelor Degree.
My instructors were all helpful and my advisor was great. My advisor signed me up for all my courses (one less thing for me to worry about) and discussed the choices and we tweaked the choices here and there.
I am a much older student and the first thing I do is email the instructor privately and explain my circumstances and be upfront with them. When I submit a paper, I would also write a note on the submission screen if I had difficulty with the assignment. I always received feedback and it became a very personal experience with the instructor and myself.
I am sorry to hear people say they have had bad experiences. Some courses are easy and others were extremely time consuming and researched detailed. College is the foundation to build on. Do not expect any college to graduate you and be fully trained. On hand and life experience trains you.

My legitimate work was scrutinized, and I was accused of cheating simply because I and other students used similar formatting methods and resources. As a result of these experiences, I have decided to transfer to other accredited online colleges that offer the courses I need and provide a clear path to my desired degrees. I was a transfer student to SNHU. I had completed my associate degree in business management from a community college with 71 credits. All of my existing credits were accepted at SNHU. I also completed and transferred another 26 credits through Sophia in one month for $79 during my time at SNHU. If you can’t deal with that, then don’t go here. As for your academic advisors, they are good for signing you up for your next courses based on your degree plan. I would highly recommend that you write a very detailed list down of questions you might have for them when you are able to get them on the phone. The reason is that they do not have an Email address or phone number to reach them. They have this general email address called advisors @ SNHU, and this general phone number 1-800 Advisors. Supposedly, when you email or call that number, your phone number is supposed to be recognized and it’s supposed to magically route it to your specific advisor. 99% of the time that does not happen. The good thing is they have advisors working 24/7 that can do anything that your personal advisor can do. Being an online student I feel is tougher than in person. There is zero personal interaction and you can’t ask questions on the spot. I work 60 hours a week and I found it convenient that I can do my classes between midnight and 4 AM. That’s really the only advantage over in person classes. So be very sure that you are insanely motivated and can get work done without excuses if you’re going to go here. It is what you make it. If I can deal with the nuances, work 60 hours a week, pull off a 4.0 GPA, and complete my bachelors degree in 10 months, so can you. My studies totaled about 35 to 40 hours per week to maintain a 4.0 GPA. If you’re OK with B’s and C’s, I’m sure you can get the work done in 15 to 20 hours a week. It comes down to how bad you want it and how hard you are willing to work for it.

There are several reasons I rate this school so low. First, the discrimination that you will encounter from adjunct professors can ruin the entire experience. Not only do these people fail at actively teaching but they have grading biases that are near impossible to dispute. For students who are considering SNHU nursing or NP program be warned- this school is horrible when it comes to apprenticeships. First, they provide zero help finding an apprentice. When you find one they put zero effort in communicating with them and reject apprentices that are acceptable to the majority of schools around.
