When the name changed, from ashford university to university of arizona global campus, I thought it was kind of weird, but I still kept pushing for my degree. Then in Feb of 2022, I seen a news article, ASHFORD UNIVERSITY and navient (their loan provider) where both sues for misrepresentation, and lying about the cost of.classes and how much financial aid we was getting, Go figure. This school, no matter the name change will always be known as the school that scammed their students, and any degree... Read More that comes from their will not be respected. Who wants to admit this is where they got their degree. There where plenty of times I had to change a class because the book voucher I was supposed to recieve, for the physical books, I never got. My advisor said she didn't know how to generate them and financial aid said I wasn't eligible. But yet these classes that I need the books for, my financial aid covered materials for.the class. I had to come out of pocket for materials my financial aid already paid for. If you don't believe it, look up state of California vs. Ashford University.

I loved everything about Ashford University! I was really nervous to be going back to school after taking an eighteen-year hiatus to raise my daughter. Read More bit thrown off to find out that the classes were only 5 weeks long, but quickly adapted to that. I really liked the financial aid office and the advisors too. Everyone was always very helpful. My advisor checked in with me about once a month, for my first year, and then once several months for the rest of the time that I was in school. When I did have a problem, which wasn't often, I heard back from him practically the minute that I sent an email saying that I had a problem. The only issue that I ever had was that because the teachers weren't local to me, they didn't have any advice on local connections to make for internships or future career moves. Luckily, I saw that as a potential problem going in and used some of my course work to make connections with the local archaeologist. Which, coincidently is how I ended up picking my Master's program, that I got accepted into because of the great letters of recommendation that my teachers at Ashford wrote!

I was really satisfied with my education at Ashford University. I was very nervous about going back to school at my age at the time I enrolled and worried about if I was going to be able to follow through. The enrollment counselors were very helpful and once I started taking classes I knew I had made the right choice in schools. The classes and instructors were above what I expected. I am a former student of Ashford University and I am so happy that I chose this school to get a degree from. I am 56 years old and when I set out to obtain a degree it was my goal to graduate by the age of 55 and I did it. I worked full-time, had two back surgeries and five deaths in my family and I still graduated with honors. Stay away!!! This school is only in it for the money. I have had nothing but headache and problems. They increase tuition more than normal, they charge more fees and more for materials than normal. They are a private for profit university. They do not care about you, they care about your money. I had problem after problem with the financial aid dept. I had to transfer to a different university and lost about 50 credits I paid and spent time earning. Teachers do almost no work and offer no help, a computer system handles all the grading a such. First of all I loved Ashford. It may be a bit expensive , but college is. If you are in an online program, expect a stigma, but times are changing, more and more universities have online programs, this is a fact. I transfered classes from junior college and a SWAC university, all the professors had master degrees and my advisor never changed. I am about to finish my Bachelor's Degree at Ashford University, my experience with Ashford (Online) has been nothing but positive, every single staff member I had contact with has demonstrated excellent professionalism and promptness. Ashford University has been wonderful I really like the faced pace, five week courses because i get bored really fast. There are several things you ned to know to determine if the school is right for you. First, you must be a fast learner who has extensive comprehension skills. Next, academic level writing skills for any online school are required because everything you do is written unlike face-to-face brick and mortar courses. You must be semi computer literate to navigate the classroom, and internet... Read More to conduct research. Procrastinators need not apply, time management skills are critical and the instructors hold you to the time frames unless you request extensions with penalties. Ultimately it is your responsibility to complete the work in a timely fashion. Ultimately if you put in the work, can work autonomously, and enjoy learning Ashford University will be for you. On the other hand if you just do enough to get by expecting to get a quality education shame on you. The four years flew by and now I am considering a Masters Degree in Organizational Development (OD). I could not have asked for more from a school. I would highly recommend Ashford University to any one who meets the criteria above.

First off, I am a National Guard veteran. When I spoke with an advisor, they took this into consideration and were very excited to tell me about their veteran discounts and what they have to offer. I have taken 6 courses so far and I have noticed a lot of my classmates are also veterans or currently in the military. I started with Ashford in the beginning of summer 2014. So far my cons I have with the school are: 1. They first told me I had all the paperwork, and then they told me there was missing... Read More paper work. Not a big deal to redo some if it, but it was annoying. 2. Instructors are VERY less than helpful. I e-mail when I have issues, concerns, or flat out confused and they just tell me to go to the Ashford writing center. Even when my question had nothing to do with writing, I was asking for clarification on an assignment. 3. The amount of essays, discussion topics, and everything else they cram into 5 weeks in insane! I can hardly keep up with it and my GPA can speak for that. 4. First week of my most recent class I had to create a layout already for the week 5 final essay, do my intro, discussion topics, and a quiz on top of all of it. I understand it's a school and you have assignments and discussion topics count towards attendance, but wow! That first week felt like an overload. How is a person supposed to make a final essay outline in the first week of class if we have no knowledge so far of everything we are to learn? 5. They really need to implement more breaks, such as spring breaks or at least a week or two in the summer. It's nice have a couple of days during Thanksgiving and two weeks during Christmas, but I feel I will get burned out with everything being back to back, nonstop and no breaks again until the end of the year. 6. The instructor’s reviews of submitted assignments are so vague. For example my thesis statement was considered "awkward” by my instructor. Can I take that moment to be the instructor and ask questions such as "What about this thesis statement makes it awkward?" Pros: 1. Having one class at a time to concentrate on is nice. 2. I didn't have to take an accuplacer, which I think is a good thing?? 3. The online class is quite simple to navigate. 4. Online school is convenient since I work part-time and the local tech school class hours clash with my work hours. Those are about the only four I can think of at the moment. I honestly feel like I am not getting the education I deserve with how fast they fly through these classes. I want to know that I WORKED for my education and degree and not just fly through a bunch of classes and end up with a degree with no knowledge to back it up. I think I might end up going to a brick and mortar school because I learn better in a face to face setting.

In working a full-time position in a non-profit organization, I was able to complete my studies without any feelings of being overwhelmed. Yes the assignments were a challange looking at the syllabus, but once you have devised your study pattern that worked for you, I found it was managable. I think you as a student need to have the determination to take on the task of continuing your education. I experienced death of 2 family members while in school and I was able to take the time that I needed with the direction of my advisor that also allowed me to maintain my attendance requirements for finanacial aid. The program challenged my to devise a plan that worked for me. I would advise students to ask questions and use your judgment as to whether this program would be a beneficial venture for your.
